Tangerine is a close-knit trio from Seattle, Washington that makes pop-infused rock n roll. Sisters Marika and Miro met guitarist Toby Kuhn in high school and middle school and the three reunited in 2013 to found Tangerine. Their influences include The Clash, Sky Ferreira, Mazzy Star, Charli XCX, the Pixies, and more. Obsessed with 80s inflected guitars, complex instrumentals, and pop melodies, Tangerine exists somewhere at the crossroads of indie and mainstream, influenced as much by fashion, film, and pop culture as they are by their favorite musicians.
Since forming in 2013, they’ve been featured in NME, Nylon Magazine Indonesia, The Guardian, Impose, KUOW, MTV Buzzworthy, Rookie Mag, Tom Tom Magazine, The Seattle Times, The Philadelphia Daily news and more, and had original music appear in MTV’s Awkward and Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Survival on FOX.
This past spring, Tangerine released their EP “Sugar Teeth” and embarked on their first full US tour, including appearances at SXSW, Treefort Music Festival, Sasquatch! Music Festival, 107.7. The End’s Summer Camp, and the Capitol Hill Block Party. Their single “Tender” debuted at no #3 on the FMQB Specialty Radio Charts. This November, Tangerine is joining SALES on a West Coast tour that includes the Regent in Los Angeles and the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
Tangerine is pop + rock n roll band consisting of Miro Justad, Toby Kuhn, and Marika Justad. Originally from Seattle, Tangerine are currently writing and recording their next project at their new home in Los Angeles.
